Surprise, Surprise!

Updated: Sep 11, 2018

So here I was, 35 years old, with a 14 year old daughter, and thought the new year would bring a new sense of calm. My daughter would be turning 15 soon, she had become so very independent that I almost had an adult social life again. It was late January, the time of year I would always go in for a yearly pap smear, and so I did. I hadn't even realized, until after answering all the normal questions, that my period was late. "When was your last period".... hmmm I had to think about it for a minute, then I remembered it was logged into my Ovia app, I checked and told the nurse the date... I then realized it was indeed a few days later, nothing crazy, about 8, WAIT WHAT! Well, still not overly concerned, I'd previously been diagnosed with PCOS so becoming pregnant was difficult for me, and hey, it hadn't happened in 5 year (miscarriage, we'll get back to that in another post). So I had my appointment with my Doctor, and at the end of the exam, she told me I may want to get a home pregnancy test, (my insurance would have required I go to another facility to have blood drawn) I laughed, yes literally laughed and said "you think so", she replied, "I really do". I left the office, and proceeded to the grocery store just as I had planned. I just so happened to go down the aisle with the pregnancy test, and remembered what she said, (yeah, I still wasn't thinking I could be pregnant at all) the clearblue easy test were on sale, buy one get one free, so I chuckled a bit, and tossed them in the cart. Went home, cooked, continued my evening as usual. Then at about 10pm I took the first test, it seemed like that positive indicator came up in less than 2 seconds! I starred at it for a bit in disbelief, then thought to myself, "Angel, take the second one", and so I did. Sure enough, I WAS PREGNANT! And so the journey begins....
